What's New About Us Packing List

What's in Your Suitcase?

What's in Your Suitcase?

Tips for Stress Free Packing.

Packing and unpacking my luggage has become such a habit that I often don't stop to think about what I actually have packed.

Over the years I've learn to "pre-pack"- having useful items that I often need packed in Mesh or Spacer Saver bags. This eliminates a lot of time and assures that I have on hand the essentials that I generally use during a trip. It's common for frequent travelers to have "pre-packed" cosmetic or toiletry kits but I go a few steps further by pre-packing a travel robe and slippers, some under garments, athletic-wear and socks, nylons and a swimsuit. So all that I need to do is actually pack my clothes and shoes.

I also have items pre-packed that I call my Comfort Items. I'm a bed reader (not to be confused with well…) so I have a neck pillow, a book-light, earplugs, and a pair of cheap reader-cheaters (in case I forget my glasses) and some chamomile tea bags. I'm ready to settle in next to a cozy fire and read the night away.

A few other items that I also find handy to keep tucked away in my suitcase: inflatable hangers, a sewing kit w/safety pins, a small pouch with earning backs, a inexpensive go-with-anything necklace (in case forget accessories), a flat spot beam flashlight (usually found at bookstore counters), 5-second glue, eyeglass repair kit, and a nightlight. I also take along a sink stopper for sink laundry, footbath or leaky tub drains.

This may seem like a lot, however, each item is pretty small, light weight, inexpensive and easy to keep tucked away inside a side pocket of my luggage. For more extensive foreign travel I'll take along a medical kit and adapter plugs plus whatever I think I'll need for that country. This is a guide meant to assist in developing your pre-packed kits. By using clear plastic zip or mesh bags you can easily identify items and decided whether or not your current trip warrants taking those items. You can even develop a camera kit, I've found that these pre-packed kits are perfect when traveling with children. Pre-packing kits help take the stress out of that night before packing scenarios.
